Youth Meeting

Meeting was held at 11:00am. This was the largest youth meeting in quite some time.

Youth were asked to write down one sentence or word that best described their favorite WPOAC – related moment. Gina Herman then read the memories throughout the awards banquet that evening.

Fundraisers: Only a few hats and visors are left, with quite a few beanies left to sell. The youth agreed to donate two beanies to the Midwest Challenge. Hats, Visors and Beanies will be available at the Midwest Challenge.

The youth collected cans at two of the fall shows, earning $11.25. A couple youth volunteered to get garbage cans ready for next year.

Walk/Trot: The open walk/trot for the youth went well. The youth earned $618.00 from entries. In February the youth had agreed to split the walk/trot profit 50/50. 50% of the entries went to fund youth activities. The other 50% was split among the top four highpoint winners, with first place earning $123.60. Youth were reminded that they should not be picking up certificates for this class. The Youth Council will again give the state club $50 towards year end awards.

Royalty: The youth agreed to purchase polo shirts for the 2008 Royalty.

The youth decided not to hold a February meeting and made tentative plans to host a youth meeting at a summer show; possibly at Custer, WI. Plans were also made to hold an ice cream social in conjunction with the meeting.

Some youth expressed interest in organizing soccer or football games following the shows.

It was also mentioned that a WPOAC member Facebook group had been created for the older youth members. Information and meeting notices will be sent through Facebook and by email.

A pizza party followed the meeting.
