WPOAC Weanling Halter Futurity Rules
(Last updated 9/01/05 by Colleen Schneider)
Mare owners MUST be a WPOAC member to nominate mare(s) and show foals in the WPOAC Futurity.
Only open to mares bred by stallions who were nominated and purchased through the WPOAC Stallion Service Auction, or any foals sired by the sold stallions.
Payment schedules are as follows:
a.
Mare nominations: All mare nominations must be postmarked on or before December 31st of the year the mare was bred. Mare nomination fees are $10.00 per nomination. Checks can be made payable to WPOAC and mailed to the WPOAC Weanling Halter Futurity Chairperson with completed nomination form. Mares may be nominated after December 31st and before the mare has foaled, at five times the mare nomination fee. Mares nominated at any time after foaling may enter the weanling halter futurity at five times the mare nomination fee and five times the sustaining fee. Free mare nominations see WPOAC Stallion Service Auction Rules and Conditions.
b.
Sustaining fees: All sustaining fees must be postmarked on or before July 1st of the foaling year. Sustaining fees are $25.00 per foal. Checks can be made payable to WPOAC and mailed to the WPOAC Futurity Chairperson with completed sustaining fee form. Sustaining fees can be paid on foals after the July 1st deadline at a cost of five times the sustaining fee.
All funds raised, after expenses, will go into a special account for the Weanling Halter Futurity. The money will be divided as follows:
c.
The money raised from the Stallion Service Auction and the Mare nomination fees will be divided: 50% weanling colts and 50% weanling fillies.
d.
The money raised from the sustaining fees will go into the proper division of weanling colts or weanling fillies.
e.
Monies collected from the annual WPOAC Futurity Auction will be divided by the number of participants between the weanling halter futurity and the aged halter futurity. The money will then be put in the proper division of weanling colts or weanling fillies, based on the number of exhibitors per division.
f.
10% of the total monies collected will be divided 5% to the stallion owner whose stallion sired the first place colt and 5% to the stallion owner whose stallion sired the first place filly.
Payout will be only to 4th place or less. Payback in each division:
